RIVERSIDE ARTS MARKET OPENING SOON

The Riverside Arts Market (RAM) is planned to open in April 2009. This huge all-weather market under the canopy of the Fuller Warren Bridge has the potential to be the biggest weekly arts event ever held in Northeast Florida. The RAM Committee has been working for the past year to develop market policies and guidelines, a parking plan, a marketing plan, an agreement with the city, a sponsorship plan and much more.

On Saturday, January 24th, 10am - 11:30am, the RAM Committee will host a workshop for interested artists, food vendors and farmers. The purpose of this workshop is to receive feedback on the market guidelines (including market layout, booth assignment policy and cost structure, Market policies and procedures).

In order for the Market to be successful we need and want your input.

The meeting on the 24th will be held at the First Guaranty Bank Building at 760 Riverside Ave, Jacksonville FL 32204, immediately across the street from the Arts Market site. We will begin promptly at 10am. After the meeting, we will walk over to the Market location so you can take a look and ask questions.

15th ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN ART EXHIBITIONON DISPLAY AT ACTORS THEATRE
Actors Theatre of Louisville celebrates African American art and artists with its 15th annual African American Art Exhibition January 29 through March 1 in the theatre’s lobby gallery.
The gallery’s popular signature exhibit features an array of 45 works by 26 local and regional artists, ranging from sculpture in various media to unique mixed media collages to evocative paintings and photography. Ten states are represented in the exhibit.

The Jacksonville International Airport Arts Commission is now accepting applications from North Florida / South Georgia artists who are interested in working and displaying at the Jacksonville International Airport during the month of December.

Artists will create their artwork in a designated “Art Zone” at the JIA terminal. Artists will also be able to sell their artwork to holiday passengers.
COMMITMENT:
Artists must commit to being at the airport for at least two three-hour shifts. A small stipend will be given for travel and food.
BENEFITS:
There are numerous benefits of this program:
Name exposure to over 16,000 passengers a day.
Opportunity to sell artwork.
Opportunity to create and participate in art dialogues.
Showcasing Jacksonville as a city where culture and the arts are vibrant and alive!

Design a Logo for Jacksonville’s Biggest Art Event! What Is It? The Riverside Arts Market (RAM) – Jacksonville's spectacular new riverfront artists' market – is scheduled to open next spring. Beneath the sheltering canopy of the Fuller Warren Bridge structure, this huge all-weather weekend artists’ market has its Grand Opening tentatively scheduled for March 14, 2009. With the size of over one football field’s covered area, the riverfront market will feature nearly 150 artists displaying their wares, accompanied by musical entertainment, street performers, and food vendors, rain or shine.
Riverside Avondale Preservation, Inc., the non-profit organization which is coordinating this ambitious project, is seeking artists to design a logo for RAM. This logo will be used in all advertising, signage, tote bags, printed literature, banners, etc. We have already received some excellent logo ideas, but this venue is so unique and so compelling that we have decided to open up the competition to the entire Jacksonville arts community.Please submit your design(s) using the following guidelines:

Limited to no more than 8 designs per artist.
Entries must be in digital format, either .pdf or .jpg files.
Size is from 5 to 9 inches.

CALL FOR ARTISTS

8th Annual Regional Juried Exhibition
All Florida artists are eligible. The entry fee is $30 for up to 3 slides. Chosen artists will display their artwork in the Main Gallery of Gainesville’s historic Thomas Center from July 12th to August 24th, 2008. The exhibition will be juried by Dr. Amy Vigilante, current Director of the University galleries, School of Art and Art History at the University of Florida. Drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, fine crafts, and sculpture are eligible. Artists will display their work and compete for one $1000 prize and two $500 prizes, distributed during the award reception on July 17th, 2008. Awardees will also be eligible for entrance into a group exhibition, “Juror's Choice: 2008 Regional Award Winners” next year. The application deadline is May 21, 2008. The next Art and Soul exhibition at the Women's Center of Jacksonville is entitled, "On the Map." The theme of the show is the world around us captured in landscapes, architecture, and things made of natural materials. All forms of media are sought. This exhibition is open to all women artists working in the Southeast region. Entries must be original and be postmarked by April 29, 2008.
