As our city and neighborhood continue to grow and thrive so does our Arts Festival. Our community, the Riverside Avondale Historic District, is known for its historic preservation, beautiful parks, wonderful collection of historic homes, appreciation for the arts and architecture, unique shops and eclectic restaurants. The recently improved Five Points area provides a vibrant gateway for those coming to visit the District.In its 36th year, one of Florida’s finest art festivals, sponsored by Riverside Avondale Preservation, the Riverside Arts Festival is held annually in Riverside Park, adjacent to the historic Five Points District.Featuring fine art by more than 140 artists, works include watercolors, oils, glass, pastels, drawings, clay, photography, wood, acrylics, fiber, graphics, metal, paper and mixed media.There will be plenty of food, fun and music to accompany the work of some of the most talented artists around. Enjoy the unique ambiance of Riverside Park and the surrounding area on Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9.You should already have made your plans to attend, but if you haven't, it's not too late to change your plans. You won't regret it.

WHAT'S GOIN' ON? STARTS TODAY

African American Artists respond to current events. Several of "Ja-kah's " visual artists and others take part in the annual Through Our Eyes art exhibit. The theme for this year is "What's Goin' On." With a theme like that, it gives every artist the opportunity to "r e a l l y express" themselves through their art. Many of these artists rarely use art to make a political statement. This show visualize abortion, murder, hair, the school system as well as the injustice of our laws. This exhibit is not intended to offend anyone. Please come with an open mind and view the world "Through Our Eyes." JCAAA members in this exhibit are Marsha Hatcher, Suzanne Pickett, Keith Doles, Annelies Dygraaf, Rhonda Bristol, Lawrence Walden, Roosevelt Watson, Traci Mims-Jones, Overstreet Ducasse, Gil Mayers, Daniel Wynn , Yuwasami,and exhibit curator Lydia Stewart. JCAAA DRAMA WORKSHOP

This Workshop will be held at The Karpeles Museum, Sat. May 12th 10am-12p. It will be open for those ages 15 and above. The format of this wk. shop will be to familiarize those with acting abilities and aspirations to recognize basic rules and conditions of Theatre. Some areas addressed will be: Blocking, Voice Projection, Stage Prescence and above all Projection. Come on out and have some fun: it will not be stuffy ! Pablo Rivera @ Beaches Art

Pablo Rivera is the featured visual artist for The Beaches Fine Art Series Concert. The Tokyo String Quartet will perform this Sunday April 15th at 3:30pm followed by an exhibit by Pablo.

Solomon Dixon and Marsha Hatcher (members of JCAAA) had a "Kodak" moment during the opening of Suzette Solano's featured show at The Art Center Gallery @ The Carling. Suzanne Pickett is the featured artist for the month of February.

EXTRA LARGE/EXTRA SMALL

Marsha Hatcher and Cookie Davis members of JCAAA and nineteen other women artists is exhibiting at The Women Center's "Extra Large/Extra Small" show. The opening is January 18, 2007. Come and support the Women Center as well as The Arts. Reception is 6:00pm-8:00pm.
