Art Venture Grants for Artists"

Cheryl Riddick from the Community Foundation will explain the Art Ventures Grant Program
and the application process.
Linda Broadfoot, Photo artist, will share her experiences as a grant awardee: applications and
how to make the most of grant funds.

The Gallery at Metro will have a show in February dedicated to the season of love!
The theme is (The Lovers Tale).

This is a non fee Juried call.
We are looking for submissions that are no bigger then 30x40. The submission deadline is February 3, 2008 and notices of acceptance will be sent out on February 8, 2008.

Any medium is accepted.

All art will be exhibited at The Gallery of Metro. You may submit up to 3 submissions to the curator before the deadline.

THE WOMEN CENTER ART SHOW

A new exhibit of women's art entitled "Figure It Out (Dangerous Curves)" opens with an artists' reception from 6-8 pm on Thursday January 17, 2008 at the Women's Center of Jacksonville, 5644 Colcord Avenue. All are invited to attend.

Each artist has met the intriguing challenge to explore the human form through life drawings or strictly imagination. Local and regional professional and emerging women artists included in this event are; Jodi Brantley, Rhonda Bristol, Kimberly Brown, Joan Carver, Jennifer Citterio, Debra Dann, Paula Herman, JoAnn Hofmann, Kathryn Milkey, Argieline Mitra, Diane LaFond, Amy Lansburg, Lynette Matyi, Terese Muller, Jean Schubert, Billie W. Shelburn, Christa Sommer, Lara Summers. Patricia Traveria, Leslie Urban, Sharon Westbrook and Diane Rabideau-Wise. Media included are paintings, drawings, collage, photography, sculpture, jewelry and ceramics.Exhibiting art is in keeping with the Center's mission to nurture mind, body, and spirit. We hope to see you on Thursday.

Two hand painted ornaments for Fort Caroline and> > the Timucuan Preserve are prominently displayed on this year’s official> > White House Christmas Tree. The tree is the centerpiece of elaborate> > decorations celebrating the theme of “Holiday in the National Parks.”

Suzanne Pickett designed and painted an ornament to represent the Timucuan> > Preserve and Kingsley Plantation. She also attended the special artists’> > reception at the White House. The ornament features portraits of the> > buildings, crops, and the enslaved people who labored at the plantation.> > Her inspiration came from historical photographs and the natural> > environment. Suzanne Pickett, a Florida native, owns her own art firm.> > People and nature are her inspiration, and she carries that into her own> > unique art style. THE BUZZ ARTIST SEARCH

We are starting a new feature in jacksonville BUZZ magazine. We are going to be
interviewing and featuringlocal artists each month in our publication. The only
cost associated with this will be the dontation of 1 piece of art to our
publication to hang in our office.
We will do a bio on you, link our website to
yours , as well as include pictures of you and your work in our publication.
Jacksonville BUZZ magazine was launched in January 2006. The BUZZ is currently
distributed in over 860 high traffic locations around Jacksonville, St Augustine
and Amelia Island with a circulation of over 40,000 copies monthly. The BUZZ is
a competitor of the Folio Weekly and focuses on dining, nightlife, arts and
entertainment.

Keith Doles exhibit at the BFAS


Keith Doles will be the Featured Artist for Beaches Fine Art Series at St. Paul's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach. The opening reception is Sunday, November 4, 6:30 pm to 8pm. Several new paintings will be on display including my latest Red Hat Tea Party (pictured). Also, enjoy a free concert with Trio Virtuosi performing from 5pm - 7pm.
