THROUGH OUR EYES 2008

The Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum invites artists from all disciplines to submit proposals for the 16th annual Through Our Eyes exhibit, featuring works by Jacksonville area African American artists. Artists selected for this exhibition will address the theme “Everything Must Change” to create new works reflecting some aspect of change, whether personal, social, political, environmental, philosophical or other. Proposals should include supporting references, explanations or descriptions, such as news stories, advertisements, anecdotes, individual experiences or other elements of contemporary life, which form the premise of the proposed work.

Highest consideration will be given to 2 and 3 dimensional works, video, poetry, music, multi-media presentations and collaborations that explore non-traditional and experimental projects, (i.e. “graffiti” art, site–specific installations or other innovative approaches).

Artists selected for this exhibition must be 18 years of age or older and agree to participate in scheduled public programs and outreach activities, including, but not limited to, the exhibit opening, Art Walk, gallery talks, workshops, artists’ market and other activities to be determined.
