15th ANNUAL AFRICAN AMERICAN ART EXHIBITIONON DISPLAY AT ACTORS THEATRE
Actors Theatre of Louisville celebrates African American art and artists with its 15th annual African American Art Exhibition January 29 through March 1 in the theatre’s lobby gallery.
The gallery’s popular signature exhibit features an array of 45 works by 26 local and regional artists, ranging from sculpture in various media to unique mixed media collages to evocative paintings and photography. Ten states are represented in the exhibit.
The artists in the exhibition are Milton 510 Bowens (Mountain House, California), Ronda Bristol (Fernandina Beach, Florida), William Buchanan (Riverdale, Georgia), Aukram Burton (Louisville, Kentucky), Danny Bruce Campbell (Atlanta, Georgia), Ronald W. Claxton (Columbus, Ohio), Abner Cope (Dayton, Ohio), Rex Deloney (Little Rock, Arkansas), William M. Duffy (Louisville, Kentucky), Anna W. Edwards (San Leandro, California), Lois Fortson (Centerville, Ohio), Eric L. Gholston, Sr. (Louisville, Kentucky), Marsha Hatcher (Jacksonville, Florida), Ariston Jacks (Little Rock, Arkansas), Gary J. Kirksey (Athens, Ohio), Velma J. Morris (Cincinnati, Ohio), Gary J. Noland, Jr. (Columbus, South Carolina), Kyle and Kelly Phelps (Centerville, Ohio), J. Rozzell (Astoria, New York), Craig Screven (Dayton, Ohio), Sylvia L. Smith (Lithonia, Georgia), Jasma R. Smith (Louisville, Kentucky), Eugene Thomas (Louisville, Kentucky), UPFROMSUMDIRT (Midway, Kentucky) and Ronnie Williams (Dayton, Ohio).
In conjunction with Downtown Louisville’s First Friday Gallery Hop, the theatre will host a reception for the artists and an award ceremony with live entertainment and appetizers on February 6 at 6 p.m. This event is free to the public.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 10 p.m. or by appointment with Roanne Victor at (502) 584-1265.
