Flyin’ West is the story of a small group of African-American women whose lives changed when opportunities opened up for people willing to settle in the harsh and untested West in the late 1890s. Besides portraying strong Black women in late nineteenth-century America, the play serves as a reminder that the West was settled by a diverse population. Themes of racism, domestic violence, inter-marriage between races, pride, freedom and the strength of the family unit are examined. Contact Info:Ritz Theatre & LaVilla Museum 829 N.
